Caitlin & DJ, December 9, 2017, Hall of Springs

Sometimes you can plan for a wedding day and everything goes according to plan, but sometimes things happen and you have to make adjustments. That’s why we’re always ready for anything at Hitlin Photography and when the forecast on the day of Cait and DJ’s wedding called for snow; actually A LOT of snow, we put our minds to work creating a possible plan B in case we needed it. Both the Bride and Groom got ready up in Saratoga Springs. We met Caitlin and her girls at the newly restored Adelphi Hotel where they had the entire 2nd floor library suite to themselves. The architecture in the room is amazing with it’s high ceilings, built in bookcases, and pocket doors. The room felt alive with the Bride and her 7 attendants and mothers getting ready when we walked in. Cait was in the process of looking more gorgeous than she already does, and we got right to work on details. DJ and his guys met Keith downstairs for some shots outside the hotel and then the guys headed to the church, which was located in Albany (a 40 min. ride). After Cait got into her beautiful wedding gown, we worked on the porch outside the suite for the bridesmaid photos and some stunning captures of Cait. We then hopped in our car and headed to Albany where light flurries started to fall as we arrived at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. This church is beyond gorgeous and we love photographing it’s beautiful interior with all the rose marble, high ceilings and large columns. The couple had a beautiful Catholic ceremony. Meanwhile, the snow started to get heavier outside. Our plan was to do some family photos at the church and then move to the NY Capital for pictures. Because of the impending storm, we switched gears and decided to do the family later up at Hall of Springs and just take the couple to the Capital. As we drove, we found barracade after barracade preventing us to get anywhere near the Capital (later finding out a winter 5k was happening). So, we switched gears again and phoned the couple on the trolley and changed our location to give a background similar to the Capital building look. We chose the D&H Building (SUNY) for some shots and they turned out stunning with all that snow. We then headed back to Saratoga to the Hall of Springs, where we finished up all the formal photos and even got some stunning snow pics outdoors as well. The reception was well decorated with beautiful swags of fabric and crystal chandeliers created by Total Events. Funk Evolution had everyone on the dance floor and wedding guests had the time of their lives partying till the end of the night.
Thank you Cait and DJ for being troopers that day and rolling with the quick changes. I think we made some great choices cause the photos speak for themselves. You two were smiling through it all and we appreciate you allowing us to share in your special day. Wishing you love and joy always.
