The Mangini Family Newborn Session, Schenectady, NY

This newborn session is filled with little details and unique touches.  Michelle and Andrew welcomed their first born, Nico a few weeks back.  Michelle had contacted us when expecting to inquire about a shoot and then emailed us directly from her hospital bed the day that Nico was born to set a definite date.  We always recommend doing a newborn shoot within the first 2 weeks of the baby’s birth.  This helps because the baby is the most calm, sleepy,  and is easy to “mold.”

When Keith arrived at their home, he was amazed at how much attention to detail that Michelle had in the nursery.  She had mentioned that her father had recently passed away and wasn’t able to officially meet Nico, so she wanted to incorporate the memory of him as much as she could.  It was pretty interesting to hear about the significance of each piece.  Nico is very blessed to have so many little memories to take with him for the rest of his life.

We asked Michelle to describe some of the details and their significance and here is what she wrote back:

  • The canvas painting has part of the lyrics to the Frank Sinatra song “Summer Wind” which was my dad’s favorite song. He was a huge Sinatra fan, my dad passed away in April of this year and never got to meet Nico, his first grandbaby. Nico’s middle name is Donald which is my dad’s name.
  • The white basket was from my dad’s wake, we had flowers in the basket and I kept the basket to use in the babies room.
  • The white heart that hangs on the  closet door was also from my dad’s wake, We had that with the sonogram picture and some flowers on it and it said “Pa” which is what he would have been called as a Grandpa. I glued the prayer card and little angel bear to the heart.
  • The little white rocker is something I had as baby, also a few other family members had it when they were children as well.
  • I chose to decorate with Elephants because they are “good luck” and I chose grey and yellow color pallet because I didn’t know the sex of the baby.
  • The elephant prints were specially framed by Andrew’s father and step-mom who own a framing shop in Ft. Lauderdale,  Florida

  1. The pictures all all so great. Nico, you are so loved. It was so hard to read your mothers notes about your room through my tears. Your “PA” would have loved you so much and I know he will always watch over your. You have already brought so much joy to our family. Love you, Aunt Linda.
