Nicole & Liang’s Wedding, MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA Mass MoCA Wedding Photographer

OK, so I’m just going to apologize right now for the amount of photos that are included in this post, but to be honest, I couldn’t pick just a few.  This wedding was so unique and we are so eager for you all to see what we came up with.  Nicole and Liang currently live in Beijing, China and had to plan their wedding from afar.  Nicole, being a past local resident to the area scoped out a few options for venues and landed on MASS MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) for a few reasons.  First, Nicole and her mom are artists (www.nicolecondon.com) and they’ve enjoyed visiting the museum in the past together, second, Liang works in the film industry and they were looking for a venue that was creative, different, and interesting and last, a major Contemporary Artist, who just happened to be from Beijing himself, had an exhibit featured there.  What a cool venue and completely different from any wedding we’ve ever done.

They started their day at the Porches Inn (directly across the street).  Joanna and her team from Lipstick N Lashes worked their magic and Nicole was stunning.  Liang got ready in another part of the Inn and we were able to bounce into his room for some prep shots of the guys.  The couple decided on a First Look on the “porches.”  So many of our clients are deciding to do this lately and it really helps with getting the majority of pictures done earlier in the day.  We then walked over to the museum and got some really cool shots of the entire wedding party.

Once inside MASS MoCA, we were in awe of all the great places to take photos.  The vibrant colors and interesting pieces of art are AMAZING.  The ceremony was held directly in the Sol Lewitt Gallery.  Cocktail hour was underneath one of the museum’s signature exhibits, “The Phoenix” by Xu Bing.  Click on the link below to learn more about this awesome piece of art.

For the reception, we headed back downstairs to the lobby where Anthology Studio created a beautiful scene.  Bamboo and Chinese lanterns adorned the room.  Linda and her team at Mezze Catering + Events put on a delicious meal and her wait staff almost preformed a sort of choreographed dance as they carefully delivered each plate to guests.  After a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony and dinner, guests partied the night away to Brian McMahon Enteretainment.

It was such a fun day and we had such a great time spending it with Nicole and Liang.  We wish them all the best and look forward to continuing our contact with them from across the world!

Details, DETAILS!!  Nicole wore 3 DRESSES throughout the day.  Love the “I Do” on the bottom of her awesome red heels and the sentimental butterfly pin on her bouquet.

Check out the invitation, this is hand designed by both Nicole and Liang.  Nicole lost 3 weeks of sleep over the design of the program.  Liang drew the images of the bridal party.  What a creative couple!

Lipstick N Lashes Beauty Bar and Boutique always knocks it out of the ball park!  MUA Joanna does her magic.

So glad we were able to get shots of Liang getting ready.  Best man ironing shirt is priceless, and who doesn’t love Liang’s socks?

Even before Nicole puts on her gown, she is radiant!

Seriously beautiful bride!

Looking good Liang!

Bride’s maids UNITE!  Check out the bracelets!  Each bridesmaid wore bracelets and earrings specially designed by Nicole in China.  Also, love the red shoes each girl wore.

Some of our favorite guy shots.

FIRST LOOK TIME!  Went off perfectly!

The walk to MASS MoCA from the Porches Inn.  You think WE’RE BAD with the cameras.  Check out these photo stalkers!  LOL!

Beautiful ceremony among some interesting Modern Art.

AH, in LOVE with these ring shots.  Instead of a guest book, guests signed or marked a scroll in traditional Chinese markings and stamps.  The  双喜 symbol is seen throughout the day (stamp on scroll, the programs, and tea pot).  It means “double happiness.”  This truly meant a lot being an East-West wedding!

Could not have asked for a more fun bridal party!

OK, so we have gotten many compliments and questions about our original TEASER (below).  This was Liang’s idea and it turned out AWESOME!!

Hopefully this will help in the explanation of this new photo craze.

Such a photogenic couple.  We had so much fun with ideas of backdrops and how to set up each of these shots.

One of the signature pieces at the Museum and one of the reasons that led Nicole and Liang to choosing MASS MoCA as their venue.

“The Phoenix” by artist Xu Bing.  http://www.massmoca.org/event_details.php?id=771

The two sculptures are ENORMOUS and take up most of the warehouse space.  If you get the chance, please go see these, you will not be disappointed!

Cocktail reception under the Phoenix.

Traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony at beginning of Reception

Such a gorgeous reception in the lobby of MASS MoCA, designed by Anthology Studio.  Evan, Kara, and their team ALWAYS do a gorgeous job and their creations are so modern and interesting.  Mezze Catering + Events did a phenomenal job throughout the entire day, not only with food, but through the ENTIRE occasion.  Big shout out to Linda and her team for their efforts in making this couple’s day spectacular!

The reception was a blast compliments to Brian McMahon Entertainment; keeping the dance floor packed!

Check out Harrison, the little dude pretending to be us (a budding photographer, LOL).

AND… we gotta add a few pics of the photogs, Keith and Meg, working hard and LOVING EVERY MINUTE!!
