Well, I for one am a true believer that if it rains on a wedding day, it means good luck for the Bride and Groom. It didn’t just sprinkle on Kim and Matt’s wedding day, it literally down poured. We came ready with umbrellas and plastic for the cameras to shoot in whatever the weather would bring us. We first met up with the Bride at the Best Western Sovereign Hotel in Albany where her and her girls got ready. Her bridesmaids had the champagne open and flowing and even made “drunken strawberries” for the occasion. Kim had so many details even for prep. From custom made hangers for all of the dresses, a six pence for her shoe, survival kits for the Bridesmaids, and a custom made hankie embroidered by the Groom himself, we had lots to photograph. Matt was at the hotel as well, but had to be blindfolded for the ride to the Appel Inn cause the entire wedding party took a shuttle together. Since the couple planned on a first look, the Bride didn’t want the chance of him seeing her. When we arrived at the Appel, we did the first look on the front porch of the main house. Thank goodness this is covered, because at that point, it was like a monsoon outside. After the fun first look, we had a good hunk of time to capture many photos. The rain lightened up and we moved around the grounds. Laurie and Gerd Beckmann of The Appel Inn quickly got the indoor ceremony ready since the ground was saturated. The couple were married next to the fire place in the ballroom. After a fabulous cocktail hour on the patio (at this point the rain stopped), all the guests were ushered back indoors to welcome the new couple to their reception. Everyone had a blast dancing to the music played by DJ Paul from Red Hot Entertainment. What started out as a crazy weather day, really ended up as an awesome wedding with some amazing images that you will see below. Kim and Matt, thanks again for choosing KHP for your wedding photogs. We wish you two a long, happy marriage!
