Cate and Brian’s Queensbury Hotel WeddingLake George NY Photographer

Brian was home on leave from the Navy for two weeks visiting his parents camp on Lake Sacandaga from Virginia and Cate was home for the summer.  Their mothers were friends and they both have camps on the same beach in Day, NY. All the stars aligned when the two first met on that beach and hung out for the weekend.  Who knew that on that very same spot, they would become husband and wife.

Not only did the two meet at camp, but Brian proposed to Cate there by having her drive from one camp to the other, meanwhile passing signs Brian put on the road.  The signs ended with one asking to marry him as Brian stood by a table with champagne and her favorite flowers.  Very romantic!

It is obvious how in love these two are.  We knew the moment we started working with them during their engagement shoot in the winter that they were smitten.  We started our day at Cate’s uncle’s camp in Day, NY where the girls got ready and Dana from Premier Hair Lounge did an outstanding job with makeup and hair.  The gorgeous flowers from A Lasting Impression stood in a beautiful crate and Cate’s bouquet stood out in a brilliant blue Mason jar that was just too pretty to leave out of the photos.  Excitement filled the air and we kept getting glimpses of the cute little flower girls dancing throughout the house.

Brian got ready just down the road at his parents’ camp.  As we headed over there, the sky got very dark, and low and behold it started to rain.  The ceremony was to begin shortly after and it was to take place on the famed beach I mentioned above.  Everyone began to get nervous.  We watched from Brian’s parents camp as neighbors, family, and friends feverishly scrambled to move all the chairs (already placed) under a tent to stay dry.  It was about 10 min. and the clouds cleared and the sun streamed through.  Everything proceeded as normal; now with dry chairs :)!

The couple were married lake side and officiate Jennie  became the hero of the day when Cate’s handwritten vows fell into the water.  She didn’t break a sweat as she leaned over the dock to fetch the paper out of the water.

We drove over to the Queensbury Hotel from there for their reception.  This venue held special meaning to Cate since her dad Heinz was general manager there for over 25 years.  She and her siblings practically grew up in the hotel.  Guests partied all night to music played by DJ Andy Pratt, who always has the best enthusiasm and gets people dancing.

We had such a wonderful day with you, Cate and Brian and we wish the both of you all the happiness in the world.  You made us feel like part of the family; thanks so much for that!

Cate’s beautiful gown and handwriting her vows, which will take a special role during the ceremony.
